Lower Village

This summer the Planning Department will be revisiting the Lower Village revitalization effort, taking a closer look at potential zoning changes to complement the Complete Streets layout recently finalized by the Stow Planning Board and engineered by Howard / Stein Hudson Associates.

A grant application will be resubmitted to the MassWorks Infrastructure Grant Program,  building on the positive direction already taken by the Stow community.  The MassWorks program stresses the enhancement of economic development, housing opportunities and transportation safety improvements in small communities.  Stow has certainly been making strides on several fronts.  From the Town Meeting vote authorizing funds for final traffic design and construction funds, to the authorization to conduct a water system feasibility study for economic development in Lower Village, Stow has shown proactive engagement of some of the toughest challenges in Town.  Add to that, the ongoing development of design guidelines, which will direct Lower Village to contextual design, and you have the kind of multifaceted approach it takes to move a project forward.

So stay tuned for upcoming announcements of workshops and updates and please do not hesitate to contact the Planning Department for more information or to find out how you can be involved!
