Comprehensive Agricultural Planning Program

Stow has partnered with several other MAGIC municipalities as a primary stakeholder in MAPC’s Comprehensive Agricultural Planning Program.

Over the next year the program will engage with growers and producers, as well as municipal officials to move toward the following goals:

  • Increase the economic viability of farming
  • support the region’s evolving foodshed
  • Build on the work of state and regional agricultural support organizations

Stow’s Assistant Planner, Jesse Steadman recently prepared a report for the Middlesex Conservation District documenting the opportunities and challenges facing local conservation and agriculture interests in Middlesex County.  The report offers locally obtained data to help direct funding from the USDA’s Farm Bill, as well as providing another steering mechanism for MAPC’s Agricultural Planning Program.  Click on the report to download for further viewing.
